Alberta farmer who was charged.

Watched a program on TV last night, " Trespassing Alberta Rural Crime Rate " .
Edouard Maurice ,[COLOR=#111111] who is 33, faces three charges of aggravated assault, pointing a firearm and careless use of a firearm, had charges against him dropped.
Court ruled that the injured man [shot in the arm] was hit by a ricochet when Maurice fired a warning shot.

Province of Alberta is looking into enacting a law , which will protect homeowners from prosecution when using a firearm when confronting burglars with firearms.
Also stated was that most rural burglaries are committed by repeat offenders and the courts are looking into ways of not letting repeat offenders off lightly.

Any Provincial law is trumped by the Criminal Code. I don’t see any changes to the code allowing deadly use of force, other than what’s already there, any time soon with this government...

I should have added that they are working with the Fed. Gov. on this issue, if it happens , it will not be anytime soon.

At least they are working on it, and if they can get other provinces on line also , it may, just may happen.
