Morel Mushrooms North Bay - Sudbury area

Not looking for anyone's secret spots, I just want to know if I am wasting my time.

I have been looking for several years around the North Bay area for these elusive mushrooms with no luck. I know timing is everything, but I am beginning to think I am wasting my time.

Has anyone ever found any morel mushrooms in the North Bay - Sudbury area?

Probably too late now.
For us, best time...poplars are about 1/2-3/4 leafed out. In other words May 15-25 this year.
Try looking for Oyster mushrooms now.

Look for dead old growth aspen. The mushrooms can be anywhere from ground to high up the stump.

I see false morels in the area so be careful what you pick.
