Ductless heating system

So last fall I had installed a ductless heating system. I went with the LG model 24000 BTU and two heads, 1 for the basement and one for upstairs. I went with the system below. This system is rated for -26 C (-13 F) but under tests at my friends place his did not shut down until he hit -30 C and his an older untill then mine. The system can heat and cool, we haven't tried the cooling yet but will find out this summer. The heating worked as expected. We had no problems heating but the coldest it got here was about -25 C one or two nights. We primarily used it on days above -10 as there was no real point lighting a fire as well on the cold night if the fire went out I didn't bother to get up in the middle of the night.

How much did it cost to run. Well for me about the cost of a face cord. The warmer months Dec, March and April about 100 bucks for the month instead of having a fire, which normally I would have burned 1 face cord anyways.

I have the same before the mini heat pump April would need fire in the house with windows open

Your going to love Ac side of it mine works great cheap to run also

My buddy installed one in the fall (small house no basement) he ran it all winter as primary heat and figured it cost him $100 a month. Before that he used electric heaters at $200 a month, he couldn't be happier with it and is looking forward to the air con in the summer. I don't remember it getting colder than -28 here this winter either.

My Buddy loves his so much (he installed it himself), he's going to try one of the no name brands for his workshop. I did some research on them and the seem to have good reviews. He will probably save a lot of money vs using the construction heater, which he figures is running him 250 a month in Jan to keep the place at less then 10 degrees.

Might be good for cooling off an early bow season deer.

If you love this you should look at the Hybreed hot water tank made by Rheem a little expensive but big savings.
Also you are able to duct the cooling into any room.

Can't seem to find a place that sells them. This would be something I can install myself but I can't seem to find where I could buy one. I know my buddy would probably be interested

Thats the problem that im having also.
A friend of mine that works in the Hvac bussiness said he can get me now around $2100.
$1449 over the border.

If and when the border opens up im making a trip to pick one up.
I believe it works out cheeper to pick one up from the States.
We are also aloud 800 per person after 2 days so its in the plans.

When my Buddy installed his Heat Pump he had an inside contact to get the system. Once we go it we installed it ourselves, I didn't feel like doing it by myself, so I paid a fella I knew and still mange to get it 4000+ cheaper than what anyplace in Ottawa was offering.

In Ontario many of these companies will not sell to you as the Unions have told them if they do they won't do business with them anymore.

Some people think it is illegal for you to install it yourself which is wrong it isn't illegal, If I had not found someone to do it for a reasonable price I was going to go to the US and buy it.

Funny in Canada companies refuse to even give you a price or information unless you let them send a sales person out.
In the US if I have questions I just call them and they will tell me whatever I want to know.

I find many Canadian companies in general do not want to do business unless they have an opportunity to rip you off.

I will be buying roofing tin from the US as soon as this Covid is over we can travel there again.

I agree 100%.
If you have the knowledge and can do it your self there is no law against it.
Thats the only way you get to leave a big chunk in your pocket.
